Duiker Hunting in Zimbabwe

The common duiker is a small, solitary antelope whose name means "diver" in Afrikaans, for the way it dives into cover when disturbed. A good ram is a satisfying trophy and a test of quick shooting.

The hunt

How We Hunt Duiker

Early and Late

Duiker feed at dawn and dusk along bush edges and roads. We walk slowly or drive tracks and get out for a quick stalk when a ram is spotted.

Judging a Ram

Rams have short, straight horns, often hidden in a tuft of hair. The shot is usually quick, before he disappears.
