Chobe Bushbuck Hunting in Zimbabwe

Small, shy and beautifully marked, the Chobe bushbuck lives in the thickest riverine bush. A good ram is hard-won: you'll see him for a second at the edge of the thicket, early or late in the day.

The hunt

How We Hunt Bushbuck

Riverine Thickets

We walk slowly along rivers and drainage lines at first and last light, or wait quietly where a ram comes out of cover to feed.

Handle With Care

For its size, a wounded bushbuck ram has a reputation for being surprisingly aggressive. Follow your PH's lead when approaching a downed animal.

Details

Calibre, Season and Area

Shots come quickly at close range in cover; a rifle you can handle fast, in the .270 to .300 class, works well.
