Livingstone Eland Hunting in Zimbabwe

The eland is Africa's largest antelope. A big bull can weigh as much as a buffalo, yet he moves quietly and keeps walking all day, which makes an eland hunt one of the longest tracking hunts in plains game.

The hunt

How We Hunt Eland

Following the Herd

Eland cover long distances, so we pick up fresh tracks early and follow them on foot, sometimes for most of the day, before catching up with the herd.

Judging an Old Bull

Look for a heavy, blue-grey bull with a thick dewlap and a dark tuft of hair on the forehead. Old bulls often have worn, thick horns rather than the longest ones.
