Greater Kudu Hunting in Zimbabwe

Hunters call the kudu bull the grey ghost: a big, grey-striped antelope with long spiral horns that seems to vanish into the bush the moment you see him.

The hunt

How We Hunt Kudu

Glassing and Still-Hunting

Early and late in the day we glass hillsides and the edges of thick bush, or move slowly on foot, stopping often, until a bull shows himself.

Judging the Spiral

A mature bull's horns make deep, wide spirals with ivory tips. Your PH counts the turns and checks the width before calling the shot, usually off sticks.
